Paper Pots

Having just finished school, I still have a huge pile of papers that I used in class. I’ve been reading up on ways to use paper instead of plastic for seeding and I thought, “what better way to recycle paper than this?”

I’m fond of origami so I simply searched for origami boxes online and found this design. I liked it because it’s narrower than most box designs so it’ll hold more soil. What worries me though is that the paper might soak up water and get ruined. Some people say that it’ll hold up okay, so let’s just see what happens.

Have you tried using paper pots? How was it?

I’m a Little Gardener!

I bought three starter plants last month when I went to Tagaytay — Lemon Balm, Basil, and Tarragon. Since then, I’ve increased my plants and added Chamomile, Lavender, Calamansi, Parsley, and Chili. I’ve been busy with gardening this past week and some of the seeds I’ve sown last weekend has sprouted already… 😀 What I like about these plants is the fact that in a few months or so, I’ll be able to harvest them.

I’m particularly excited for the chamomile because so far it’s the fastest to sprout. I’m looking forward to its pretty flowers that, according to what I’ve read online, smells of apples.

I’m quite fond of tea, and I can’t wait to try making chamomile tea, too! For the mean time, I make fresh tea from a mixture of lemon balm and tarragon leaves. It’s amazing for a ton of things like headache, colds, and tummy ache, and it smells and tastes nice also.

So, yeah, I’m officially the Little Gardener, too! 😀
